Opioid and Heroin Addiction Workshop
Barrington Behavioral Health & Wellness will be participating in the ‘One Voice – Call to Action’ on Opioid and Heroin Addiction, Friday, August 18, 2017 at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois and will host a booth there in the exhibits section of the event.
Hosted by Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Office for Mission and Spiritual Care, the Lake County Underage and Drug Prevention Task Force, and the Lake County Opioid Initiative, the event provides an opportunity for professionals, and laypersons to learn about the ongoing opioid addiction crisis and what can be done to help curb it.
The day long program hosts panel discussions with officials representing federal, state and county agencies that are at the front line of policy development to combat the opioid and heroin crisis we face today. The panelists will be discuss topical issues from a local, statewide and national perspective.
The event includes three breakout sessions focusing on individual drugs that contribute to the crisis, tobacco, alcohol and prescription drugs. A featured speaker will address the link between these substances and mental health.
Lastly, we will share how you can support the many coalitions engaged in the education and prevention efforts locally.
The ‘One Voice’ event also hosts an exhibits area that will include local agencies, groups and healthcare providers actively involved in the education and prevention efforts taking place in this war on opioid abuse and addiction.
