Online Event discussing the effects of struggling with life in the time of COVID-19

Join Barrington Village Trustee, Emily Young, and Barrington Behavioral Health & Wellness founder and Director Dr. Denise Casey – and clinician Michael Hugo – for an online, ‘ZOOM’, discussion on the trauma of COVID-19.

Most often we consider trauma to be an effect of violent events. Through our current state of affairs, living with the coronavirus pandemic, it has become clear that trauma can manifest in a slow, silent and insidious manner that may creep into one’s life without visible symptoms.  In short, the trauma that we are witnessing now is both subtle, and mass, in scope.

Some telltale signs of that one may be experiencing ‘pandemic event induced trauma’, or ‘stress induced trauma’, can include hypervigilence, lonliness, physical illness, lack of certainty or security, anxiety or panic, lack of sleep, fear of loss, unemployment, dashed dreams, and more.

Dr. Denise Casey and Michael Hugo will discuss what to look for and, more importantly, what one can do to relieve the effects of stress induced trauma.
