Michael is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois and holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Michael primarily specializes in the evidence-based treatment of anxiety and trauma-related difficulties. He has worked with a wide range of clientele both adult and adolescent; from professionals finding difficulties managing stress within their careers to individuals struggling with debilitating anxiety, worry, panic attacks or social anxiety.
Michael approaches his clients with the understanding that the typical human life is characterized by joy as well as emotional pain. His first priority is to form a committed partnership with his clients that is built on a mutual understanding of what success would look like for them and what barriers exist between the client and their valued life directions. Michael then works with clients to approach their experiences from a different perspective, aid in creating more effective and skillful means to move through difficulties, and construct lives that are full of meaning and purpose in the present. In addition to anxiety, Michael has a passion in aiding clients to addressing a variety of presenting concerns that restrict individual’s lives and keep them from connecting with others or living your life in a valued and meaningful way including depression, anger, grief, and difficulties tolerating strong emotions.
He has received advanced training in various contextual-behavioral psychotherapies including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and is a member of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
