I believe psychotherapy is the process in which individuals, couples and groups can change, heal, grow and achieve their potential, in a non-judgmental and accepting environment.
My specialties and professional interests include the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, depressive disorders, anger management, ethical issues in clinical psychology, veterans issues, mens issues, marital and couples; therapy, autism spectrum disorder, childhood fluency disorders, aviation professionals, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and parenting/behavior strategies, among others. I prefer utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to help clients, including cognitive-behavioral, rational-emotive behavioral, motivational counseling, and client-centered interventions.
I possess an extensive and varied background in human behavior and clinical intervention and assessment. I obtained my master's degree in counseling while on active duty in the United States Navy at Naval Station Charleston, South Carolina in 1990. Since that time, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings, and obtained my Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago in 2006.
